Components of Physics Experimental Instruments

Sensors/Sensing Elements: Used to detect physical quantities-examples include the spring in a spring dynamometer, the semiconductor sample in a Hall effect experiment, and the lithium niobate crystal in an electro-optic modulation experiment.

 

Signal Processing Unit: Comprising components such as amplifiers, analog-to-digital converters, and digital voltmeters, this unit is used to process the faint signals output by the sensors.

 

Display/Readout Device: Devices such as graduated scales, pointers, digital screens, and oscilloscopes, used to visually present the measurement results.

 

Control and Drive System: Components such as motors, power supplies, voltage regulators, and scan generators, used to precisely control experimental conditions.

 

Support and Adjustment Structure: Structures such as optical rails, stages, bases, and five-axis adjustment mounts, designed to ensure the stability and precision of the instrument.
