The system is equipped with a photogate timing unit. One timer is used for pendulum experiments, while two timers are used for free fall experiments. The cycle count can be set from 1 to 50, and the timing range is 0 to 999.99 seconds with a resolution of 0.01 seconds.
By combining two classic experiments into one device, schools can significantly reduce equipment costs.

Electromagnetic Release for Stable Starting Conditions
The pendulum bob has a diameter of 20mm ±0.1mm and is released by an electromagnetic mechanism.
For the free fall experiment, two steel balls are provided, with diameters of 20mm ±0.1mm and 10mm ±0.1mm respectively. Both are released using the same electromagnetic system.
This design provides highly consistent starting conditions. Compared with traditional manual release methods, which can introduce vibration and timing variation, the electromagnetic release ensures smooth, repeatable operation and improves measurement accuracy. The same release mechanism is used for both experiments to maintain consistency.
Helpful Accessories for Easy Setup
The apparatus includes a plumb line for leveling and vertical alignment. A catcher bucket is also provided to safely collect falling objects and prevent loss or damage.
The photogate sensors are easy to position, and the digital display provides clear real-time timing results. This system is widely used in university mechanics laboratories.
With a total height of 1150mm, the apparatus provides sufficient falling distance for accurate measurements. The pendulum length of up to 1000mm allows experiments with different oscillation periods.
