This young modulus experiment apparatus uses the static stretching method. Students apply weights to a wire and measure its elongation. The data can be processed using two methods: the difference method and the graphing method. The system includes a reticle, a CCD microscope, and a color LCD monitor. The compact design allows multiple students to view the screen simultaneously, making teaching more effective. The two columns are made of stainless steel and are approximately 85 cm high. The molybdenum wire is about 60 cm long, with a diameter of 0.18 mm. The wire position and length can be adjusted, making the apparatus highly flexible.


This apparatus is equipped with a color LCD monitor. The reticle scale covers 4 mm, with each division representing 0.05 mm. The reticle is illuminated by LED lighting, and a slot mechanism prevents it from oscillating. The CCD microscope provides 60× magnification and includes an electronic measuring scale. It can be adjusted in two directions and can also be detached for other precision measurements. The CCD sensor is an advanced area-type device, with a signal-to-noise ratio of ≥52 dB and a resolution of 480 TV lines. The video output is 1.0 Vp-p at 75 ohms, and the image can be displayed on a projector or a computer for classroom sharing.
Stable and Accurate Readings
The apparatus includes ten weights: eight of 200 g each and two of 100 g each. The stretching mechanism and viewing system share a single frame, ensuring stable measurements and reducing environmental influence. The measurement uncertainty is less than 5%.
