The Electron Specific Charge Apparatus lets students do four large experiments. First, they measure electron motion in electric and magnetic fields. This includes electric deflection, electric focusing, magnetic deflection, and spiral motion magnetic focusing. Second, they find the electron charge to mass ratio. They also verify the spiral motion equation. Third, they measure a component of Earth's magnetic field. Fourth, they can optionally test the electron lens equation. The error for Earth's field measurement is ≤1%. The error for the charge to mass ratio is ≤3%. This product gives very reliable numbers.
