Build Telescopes and Microscopes by Hand

This prism and lens experiment set allows students to build optical instruments from scratch. The optical rail is 104mm wide and made of aluminum with a black anti-reflection coating to reduce stray light. Seven aluminum saddles with black surface treatment are included for component mounting.

The system is equipped with a German-made white LED light source with a diameter of 28mm. Its intensity is adjustable, providing flexible illumination for different experiments. Students can assemble a Galileo telescope, a Kepler telescope, an internal focusing telescope, and a basic microscope using this set.

The set includes two convex lenses with a diameter of 38mm and focal lengths of 100mm and 150mm. It also includes one concave lens with a diameter of 38mm and a focal length of -50mm.

An object screen (80×110mm) is included, featuring X and Y axis scales. The Y-axis range is 0–10mm with a minimum division of 0.1mm.

The eyepiece is housed in a metal barrel with a length of 65mm and a focal length of 50mm. It also includes X and Y scales with 1mm divisions, allowing measurement estimation down to 0.1mm.

This set supports four key experiments: measuring the focal lengths of three lenses, constructing Galileo and Kepler telescopes, building an internal focusing telescope, and assembling a microscope.

Students can calculate magnification and understand the role of different lens combinations. The system clearly demonstrates why telescopes use two lenses and how microscopes achieve magnification of small objects.

This prism and lens experiment set is widely used in university optics laboratories and provides strong hands-on learning experience.
