This newton's ring experiment apparatus is built on a 70cm aluminum rail base with a black anti-reflection coating to minimize stray light. The light source is a yellow LED with a wavelength of 587.6nm, and its intensity is adjustable.

The system includes a CCD micro-displacement meter, a color CCD microscope, and a color LCD monitor for real-time image display. Students can clearly observe Newton's rings without eye strain, and the entire class can view the results simultaneously on the monitor.

The system can operate under normal room lighting conditions, eliminating the need for a darkroom.

Fine Adjustment and Clear Display

 

The micro-displacement meter is equipped with an electronic scale with a minimum resolution of 0.01mm and a field of view of at least 9mm. The CCD microscope provides 60× magnification and supports both PAL and NTSC formats, with a horizontal resolution of 600 TV lines.

The system includes a transmission-type Newton's ring setup with a ring diameter of 42mm. It is equipped with a three-jaw adjustment holder for stable alignment. The condenser lens has a diameter of 38mm and a focal length of 150mm.

Students can measure the radius of curvature of a lens with an experimental error of ≤3%. It also supports the measurement of thin film thickness using wedge interference; the wedge accessory is optional.

 

Easy for Students to Use

 

The operation is simple: turn on the light source, adjust the intensity, and observe the interference rings on the monitor. The digital electronic scale eliminates the need for manual scale reading, allowing students to focus more on understanding physical principles rather than measurement procedures.

The black-coated rail reduces unwanted reflections, and the three-jaw holder ensures stable positioning. The CCD microscope is pre-aligned, making the system ready for use immediately after unpacking.
